Resource Directory / Welcome to YGender

Here is the latest version of our Resource Directory and Welcome Booklet (31.03.2013). There are hard copies at our events (1st-3rd Wednesday Evening’s each month).
Unfortunately it took a while to get these books printed and there are some parts that will soon need to be updated, e.g. terminology is already out dated in the book but updated on our website… if you have any feedback email it to or tell the committee anonymously via when the book is updated all the feedback will be used at once.
Nevertheless, it’s a step forward so if you are looking for some sort of assistance YGender doesn’t provide or want to know more about how YGender is run, it says it in the book :)

Getting Urgent Help – Factsheet

What we do each month :)

We meet 4 times each month for:

Project Space

We meet for Project Space on the first Wednesday of every month at 6pm. At space we do creative projects together to achieve self-advocacy, gender expression, education, create resources for the community and for some creative fun. If anyone involved with YGender has an idea for a project we work together to turn ideas into plans and achieve our common goals.

Introduction Nights

On the second Wednesday of each month at 6pm, YGender go out for a casual coffee to explain what YGender is all about for people interested in getting involved. The aim is to provide a relaxed and supportive space where people can meet and chat casually about the things that interest them (not necessarily gender, even though this may be a common thread).

Discussion Group

Discussion group meets on the third Wednesday of each month at 6pm. We discuss topics that Trans*, Gender Queer, Gender Questioning young people and allies face. There is a new topic each month for discussion but topics are able to be revisited again if members of the group wish to. The group is set up to create a safe space where people can talk about personal issues with likeminded people. The aim is to decrease isolation and encourage members to get to know each other.

Social Events

Each month YGender organise a social event. There is no fixed day for these events although they usually occur on weekends. Some of the events we have done in the past include picnics, going to the movies, bowling, dinners and many other things that people suggest. Sometimes we include going to community events as our monthly social event and attend together.
